Nikoline Liv Andersen is a Danish fashion designer who has collaborated with the likes of John Galliano and Christian Dior, this collection entitled 'Glory' is inspired by the late Elizabethan/Jackobean period, but also takes elements of French autocratic design into the structure of the clothes. For these pieces the makeup was done by Anne Staunsager, the design of the makeup is a very modern interpretation of Elizabethan makeup, although the pale face and brows remain prominent (as required for an Elizabethan face), the eyes are deeply smoked giving an illusion of depth to the sockets. The cheekbones are contoured with an ashy brown and the lips are a pale nude that blends with the skin tone. The makeup for this look is a darker, moody interpretation of Elizabethan makeup and with artistic licensing may be interpreted to embrace the element of mystery and uncertainty that surrounded Elizabeth and her reign in the eyes of England and Europe.
